I was studying some art and stumbled upon the above painting. I liked elements of the painting a lot which inspired me to make the sketch up top. I also watched the movie The Dutchess last night and found it visually just stunning. They always light and shoot those victorian movies like paintings. The movie itself was profoundly sad though.

This is a really nice piece! Speaking of well-lit movies, have you seen The New World? The DOP captures naturally light beautifully. The entire thing looks like a Sorolla/Sargent painting!
Love your technique... Your work is amazingly expressive.
Amazing colors ! Beautiful :)
Beyond beautiful piece you did!! LOve your work and yes, the movie is great!
Hethe! I really love the way you've captured this woman and the lady in "the story of how we met". There is something very inspired to it that is really quite a breath of fresh air. Keep up the great work!

amazing drawing!!
Your blog is very beautiful!!!
Oh yes, you "studied" some art. You looked at it, plain and simple. Come down from your high horse.
Was your sketch digital or traditional? I love the "ala prima" look. It reminds me of Frank Duveneck. All the best.
Thanks Gustavo, the sketch is digital.
